“Minimalism is a reminder that I have enough and that I am enough. ” Matt D’Avella
There is an innate need within each of us – a longing, if you will – to find a place of silence. To calm the inner turmoil and hear what is really going on inside our heads…and our hearts.
There is a need to discover Truth. Not relative truth, but objective Truth. It isn’t found in all the extreme viewpoints that exist now. The concept of relative truth is in itself contradictory and vacillating. No. This Truth has its origin in Itself, not in the human mind.
It doesn’t embrace everything just because someone said so. It discards all the human extraneousness, emotional baggage, selfish concepts, and generalized ideals. It seeks to accept mystery, the explainable, the Divine. Not superstitiously, nor in a generalized “feels good” spirituality, but one that is grounded and immovable; unchangeable and real. Based on antiquity, not imagination; on a spiritual understanding that comes from something deeper that is untainted by human interpretation. It is based in reality – a reality that is reflected in the world around us, but in itself as yet is unseen.
It is that Objective Truth that humanity is seeking to find. It wearies of the lies and deceptions from the world around it. It craves stability and unwavering honesty. It seeks to love and to be loved. That solid and unwavering rock upon which to hang one’s beliefs…one’s entire being.
And it will only happen when we start to detangle what we’ve come to believe are values that are not our own. When we realize that we don’t have to accept everything that comes our way. And that not everything is fully right, though there is within it some truth.
Achieving the simple life…
To simplify our lives, we must reject the chaos we’ve taken in and begin to declutter our thoughts and beliefs just as we do with our wardrobe or our office space. Sort them by what is most important to you. Not to your neighbor or favorite news channel. What holds the most meaning to you?
Take each thing you believe and write it out. All of them, and all the arguments for each. Then spend time in silence with the determination to know – really know – where the Truth lies in each.
Measure them against solid understanding of reality. Does it really fit? Or are you trying to justify it’s existence in your mind? If you are trying to justify it, there will be no inner peace.
Move to the next one. Then the next, discarding those along the way that cannot measure up to the reality in the still world around you. Not the world of cities and crowds, but in nature and silence.
Gather up all those thoughts and set them aside. Sit in silence, in the inner stillness within the confines of an unobtrusive environment.
Offer them all to That Which is outside of yourself – to the Uncreated Creator. Have Him reveal what is True.
Then sleep. Rest knowing that you will find that answer within, not outside in the noise and busyness the world has to offer. Not in the distractions it proffers, nor in the goodies that excite the physical self. But in the stillness.
Simplicity and Clarity: By embracing minimalism, we can clear physical and mental clutter, allowing us to focus on what truly matters. This clarity can lead to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
Resilience Through Discomfort: Regularly facing small challenges, like taking cold showers, can build mental resilience and prepare us for larger obstacles. Embracing discomfort helps develop a strong and determined mindset.
Embracing Uncertainty: Accepting that self-doubt and uncertainty are natural parts of the creative process can liberate us from fear. By continuing to create despite these feelings, we can achieve great things and grow as individuals.
