Every day we see articles in the media of the homeless on the streets. We encounter them on our way to work, or during the course of shopping.
But do we really see the face of poverty?
This article uncovers one group of people we see around us who may belong to that class of the impoverished. They are found in unexpected places – even among our closest friends and relatives. They may even live under our very roof.
Yet we think they are the most secure, wealthiest among us. But rapidly rising cost of living coupled with income that does not match the rise is a recipe for this kind of unexpected poverty.
And don’t think any one of us isn’t a heartbeat away from living in poverty, too. Even if you think you’ve saved enough, think again. All it takes is an accident, a medical emergency, or natural disaster to wipe out all your hard-earned savings in the blink of an eye. And with many of these people, that is exactly what happened to them.
Learn of this new face of poverty. Though the article was written in 2018, it nevertheless is more fitting today than ever before. The population is only growing in number.
